Small children go through the age where they explore their world through their senses. Build a healthy family through proper nutrition which improves the functioning of these senses, but these senses also need constant stimulation to develop to their full potential.
Food are also used as an education tool, as all children have an inherent need to tough and play with things, which is a great way to improve their hand-eye coordination. Of course this does mean a certain amount of mess but your home has probably already been turned upside down any number of times with small children. You may not be able to upgrade you home into a self cleaning home, but you sure can upgrade your child’s eating habits to build a healthy happy family. By offering nutritious healthy meals to your children is not the problem at all, getting them to eat it is the real challenge.
Parents can oftentimes be too forceful when wanting to exert some control over their child’s diet. It is therefore important that you do not pressure your child too much in order to prevent the rebel in your child from taking over. And you’d better believe it is easier said than done for sure. There are a couple of important rules to keep in mind when you try to convince your little darlings to try and eat new healthier food in order to build a healthy family. These rules are based on the principle of changing the food and meal culture within your entire household, so everyone will have to make some changes to build a healthy family.
Find the time for family meals, the importance of this special time the family spend together cannot be overemphasized. The number of meals that a family enjoys together is slowly declining, as more and more people are making use of convenience foods due to a lack of time, and families are eating their meals in front of the TV. This takes the all important emphasis off the food and the family. Instead of using our sense optimally, we defeat them by focusing on whatever program is intruding our family meal time. More frequent family meals have been associated with a higher intake of complex carbohydrates, protein, calcium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin B complex, vitamin C and vitamin E.
The benefits of breakfast may seem overrated. It is for a fact, the most important meal of the day. Breakfast can cure many things, from an empty stomach to grumpiness, irritability and tiredness. Another very interesting thing, children are more inclined to eat breakfast if they had a family meal the previous night. Breakfast is one of the most difficult meals to get a child to eat. Give your child a choice by giving them a list of healthy breakfast options to choose from and allow them to determine the serving size as well. Any start is a good start to build a healthy happy family.
Make small gradual changes. Once parents have made the decision to change the current family lifestyle, they tend to jump in head first. Then only afterwards they realize they have mistaken the shallow end for the deep end. Then chaos breaks loose and everything just backfires. Rather decide with foods will be allowed, and which will be eliminated. The foods that you have on your eliminated list, then needs to be excluded slowly, without them even really realizing. But children are very perceptive, they probably will notice the changes and they may even rebel against your plans to build a healthy family.
May of us have fallen prey to the supermarket snare, as most supermarkets are full of tempting and attractive packaged foods. Most of these are also designed to target specifically children. These foods seem to be far more attractive and enticing when a child is hungry, and this goes for adults too. Have you ever noticed that public places, especially supermarkets are the most common arena for food warfare? Therefore be a little cleverer, before attempting the very courageous act of grocery shopping, make sure the kiddies are not starving and are fairly full and well fed. Give them something healthy to eat before visiting the supermarket.
With your children avoid using food as a reward; even though it is one of the most successful ways to reward a child, it is certainly not ideal when you want to build a healthy family. We all know that there is nothing better can a special treat to keep a child quite and happy and behaved, but this act of love from our side only creates unhealthy eating habits. What makes some families more happy than others? The short answer is they are aware of doing things that make them happy. They have probably taken the time to explore what they like to do, what makes the members of the family happy and importantly make the time to do those things more regularly than the things that they don’t particularly enjoy.
It sounds simple and it is. It is about not being lazy! People who are happy are more aware!
Aware of what you may ask, and that’s a great question. Individuals in the family are aware of what they like and actually go out regularly and simply do those things. Most importantly, they do those things together. Hence the saying has arisen that the family that plays together, stays together!

1 Being Grateful for everything in their lives. Having gratitude for the things that they have. Gratitude comes from an awareness of acceptance of what life is offering to each of us at any given moment. If you do not have acceptance in the present moment, than it is more difficult to be grateful. Acceptance and gratitude are the foundations for enthusiasm which brings for the feelings we all desire which is happiness.
2 Acceptance of the consequences of our choices and finding an appropriate level of satisfaction leads to happiness. When you have the habit of acceptance or satisfaction of what happens, you enjoy life more. People who try and “maximse” everything that they engage in are usually to wrung out at the end of the day to enjoy anything. They are never satisfied and are continually chasing their tail, so to speak. Simply limit the number of choices on offer to you is helpful.
3 Focusing on one thing at a time is a habit for happy families. The power to pay attention to what you as a family are wanting is a great habit to engage in because it limits the choices, focusses each family member and everyone can take some ownership of the family experience.
4 Simply being together and hanging out together. Being comfortable with not doing things all the time.
5 Love yourself first and then love your family by spreading the magic of love in each moment. Human beings thrive on close personal relationships. Human beings do not like to be on their own most of the time.

10 Habits of Highly Successful Mothers

“Success” is an ambiguous term to me. How does one measure success? How does one define it? Is success how much money we have in our bank account? Is it how much we have accomplished in our professional life? Perhaps success is the amount of education we earned? Or maybe success is how bright our future paths are…Being first and foremost a mother (in addition to the others duties of my life), the concept of success is one I measure (most of the time), by the happiness and achievements of my children and husband, rather than myself. Looking at success through this lens can be a slippery slope; what if, perhaps, one’s child goes through a naughty phase- does this make the mother unsuccessful? I think not.
But, when your primary energy, time and commitment are targeted toward the health and well-being of those around you, measuring yourself to their achievement is inevitable. I carefully study successful people. Women who are able to achieve motherly success (i.e. their children are super in school, sports, arts and wonderfully behaved), in addition to professional success and marital success are truly captivating to me. I wonder what they think when they meet me, “This woman is does she keep asking me questions….” Well, I am trying to learn learn learn. 1. Efficiency is key
There are only 24 hours in the day for all of us. So how is it that some people simply get more done than others? They don’t waste time doing things that someone else can do. When it’s appropriate and the budget allows for it, bring in the reinforcements to do your mundane tasks to give you more time. Successful women schedule carefully and say no to anything that doesn’t work in the schedule.
2. Plan Long-term
Successful women anticipate the needs of the children, their husbands, their jobs, and the school picnic. The most successful women I know have their calendars mapped out for the year.
3. Don’t sweat the drama
There is one thing that women from all generations and all parts of the world share, and that is drama. Sensitivity to everything that is said, goes on, and transpires will ruin even the most focused woman. Do not get involved in nonsense. (I even go so far as to avoid news during the workday so I am not distracted by natural disaster.)
4. Keep the children on the forefront
You can be wildly successful with your career, but if you come home to a crying child because you were the only mother who didn’t come for the Mother’s Day Music Show you have had it. Staying on top of your child’s basic needs and even the most trivial event is important. Schedule time with your child if you must. Create a day a week that is for your children and only them. Carve out time every day to spend real one-on-one time with them. Being in the same room doesn’t count!
5. Stay connected to your husband
If your marriage fails, your children’s life will fall apart. Period. End of story. I’m not suggesting that you can’t piece it back together again but it will take time and healing. Prevent it by staying focused on being connected to your spouse.
6. Don’t overspend, overeat, overdrink
Keep a check on health, on your spending, on your social life. Inventory it weekly. If life spirals out of control in one of these areas, your entire life will suffer.
7. Commit
When your child is on a basketball team and wants to stay home to play with his friends, tell him no and remind him of his commitment to his team. He can play with his friends when he gets home. Committing and staying committed is a key strength to anyone who is successful at anything. Success takes hard work, which can only be achieved through commitment.
8. Say No
People who say yes to everything create an impossible scenario for success. Do not volunteer to be the homeroom mom if you are working 60 hours a week; you will be unsuccessful at work, home and school. People who recognize when they are maxed out are always appreciated for their gracious “no I’m sorry I am over committed” statement. It’s a gift to everyone around you when you say no, and bow out.
