Eight Tips For Choosing Child Care

Selecting the best child care arrangement is one of the most important choices you’ll make. How do you know which is best and what should you look for when evaluating child care centers that appear to have similar offerings?

“Every child is unique, so it’s important to choose a place where your child feels at home and the philosophy and approach to learning agree with your own,” said Sharon Bergen, senior vice president of education and training for Knowledge Learning Corporation, the nation’s leading provider of early childhood care and education.

Bergen says once parents narrow the search to locations that are convenient and affordable, there are a number of questions they should ask.

1. Is the center licensed?

2. Is it safe? Is the facility clean? Does it have plenty of light and fresh air? Are there formal procedures for the arrival and departure of children?

3. Is there enough indoor and outdoor space for both quiet and active learning and play?

4. Is there a clean, properly equipped area specifically for infants and toddlers? Is there appropriate interaction and nurturing of infants and toddlers?

5. Is parent participation encouraged? Are parents welcome and encouraged to visit and observe at any time? Does the center schedule parent conferences and provide progress reports?

6. Does the center have strict procedures for hiring caregivers? Is the director a professional who inspires confidence? Do teachers have experience and skills in child care methods? Are applicants fingerprinted when required by state law and required to take a medical exam in compliance with state licensing regulations? Are background checks and written references mandatory?

7. Does the center have a written plan you can see in action? Are learning programs designed for each age group?

8. Are education programs focused on the whole child and designed to meet the social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs of children?

Bergen suggests carrying a checklist and taking notes while touring facilities. Answering these questions will help parents make an informed decision.…

Training Toilet Can Really Be A Beautiful Experience For Both The Mother And Child

Training toilet or toilet training or just using the potty is something which every child has to go through in his or her life. There is simply no escaping this at all. A child at some point in his or her has to learn how to use the toilet for doing his or her potty. But many child educators, doctors and even child specialists differ in their opinion as to when is the correct age for a child to be toilet trained.

It all depends entirely on when the mother ad child are both ready for this big step. Most toddlers are ready to be toilet trained from the age of 18 months and 24 months. Some children can be trained not to wet their napkins or diapers by toilet training them from an early age of even 6 months. All the mother has to do is take the baby to the toilet every hour after the baby has taken fluids and help the baby to ease itself by making a hissing sound or allowing the water in the tap to run.

But it is the bigger training toilet that is more difficult for most children as they are simply afraid of sitting on potty chairs or on toilet seats in the bathrooms. These children have to be slowly allowed to play with potty chairs first and made to sit on the chairs with their clothes on. After a few days when they are more or less comfortable to climbing on to the potty chairs and sitting on them make sure that you have removed their clothes.

They will then sit on the potty and do it while you play with them or hand over a small toy for them to play with or you could even sit by their sides to read a book. What children need is reassurance that they are not alone while they do their potty on a potty chair or in the toilet.

You will know that kids want to do their toilet when you find them suddenly stopping all their activities and becoming quiet suddenly with a serious look on their face. Now you should gently help them to sit on the potty chair and wait patiently till the finish. Take them along when you take the potty and its contents to be flushed in the toilet. Let them do the flushing. This will instil a lot of confidence in them and they will have no fears to be toilet trained either.

You can buy the special toilet seats for children, which is available in the market and install the same on the regular toilet seat. And while the child is doing his toilet you also wait in the toilet and reassure the child that there is nothing to fear at all.

Reward your child every time he or she uses the toilet as this will truly help them to be more confident. Encourage them regularly by cheering them once the potty training is over. Training toilet can really be a beautiful experience for both the mother and child.…

Painless Tips For Raising A Child Right

Parenting is a difficult job, even under the best of circumstances. Knowing the best way to handle it can be easier if you have some tips to help you on your way. This article has some practical advice to make many of your daily parenting challenges a little easier.

When traveling with small children, consider booking two rooms with an adjoining door. This will allow you to have your child sleep in a separate room without being too far away from you. It also provides more space to unpack without baby going through the suitcases. Be sure to double-check when you make the reservation that the rooms are physically connected with a door, not just next to each other.

Avoid disrupting your small child’s eating and sleeping routines when you are traveling. Children find travel stressful, the more so the younger they are. Upholding bedtime rituals can make the experience far more pleasant for yourself and your child.

For parents who have children that like to sleep in your bed, it is important that you get them to sleep in their own bed. This is because the older a child gets, the harder it will be to stop the habit. When they come into your bed, immediately put them back into theirs.

We all know that engaging in an argument with a toddler is never the most productive use of our time. To avoid arguments, make sure you explain your reasons for your rules in ways that are easy for your toddler to understand, and decide ahead of time which rules are flexible and which are non-negotiable.

Learn the signs of a baby on a nursing strike. Many parents experience a nursing strike and take that to mean that the baby is ready to wean. Actually babies go through periods where they are just less interested in breastfeeding in general. Babies do this generally when they are going through large developmental leaps. Just keep offering and they will come back to normal feeding rhythms.

Close Family

As a parent one should make sure to set time aside specifically for the family. This is important for maintaining a happy and close family, because with our busy lives it is easy to let other outside activities such as sports and work get in the way.

Good Relationship

As unfortunate an event it may be, divorces happen all of the time. In order for you, a divorced parent, to hold a good relationship with your college aged and older children you must never get them in the middle of your divorce. This will push them away for you and your ex-spouse.
